What is this?
K333 is a poetry zine written by Katy Finnegan and designed by me.
Katy elegantly explored the subjectivity and the dark side of desire, platonic love, luxury and mundane pleasures, yeah, this is not a vanilla poetry zine.

The Concept
Inspired by Katy's ominous and dark writing, I wanted to somehow draw the reader to have feelings like discomfort and contemplation.
I made the text unsettling by the way I designed the text box with the massive gaps between the words, and I did that because I wanted the visual expression to be as uncomfortable as the poetry itself.
When it comes to colour, well, I kept that to a limited colour palette with black, magenta, white and grey, so it would give the zine a mysterious vibe.
The Illustrations
Throughout the book there are illustrations, and they vary from one chapter to another. However, I kept the colour palette consistent, so the zine would have an identity.
I wanted to make the drawings fragmented, so I mixed pixel art and creative coding to make them look unsettling.
The Print
We avoided any glossy finishing as we wanted to keep the uncoated quality of the paper.
There isn't any grammar weight difference between the cover and the content, and that's because we aimed to give a contemporary premium feel to it.
